After a long run with The Who, Keith Moon faked his own death, changed his name to Jason Ellenbogen and moved to California to try and recapture his teenage wasteland. He kept a low profile in California for a few years before relocating to the Capital District to redo High School. He was the drummer for Second Nature and KP & Company in the early 90's, then took the next 13 years off to learn guitar and hone his vocals playing nightly sold out shows to his kids and doing an occasional family campfire gig. In the summer of 2006 he ran into his old bass player, Chip Kress at the Great Escape and the rest is history (in the making).
Chip was the original bass player and vocalist for The Beatles, but left because of personal differences with Pete Best. Unfortunately he didn't take the Beatles success quite as well as Best did, falling into a coma during the Ed Sullivan show. Fortunately he has better timing in his music.
Upon awakening from his 17 year coma, he played with several bands in the 80's, in a place where they consider Lake George "downstate New York", before moving to the Capital District. In the early to mid 90's he played bass with Second Nature, KP & Company and Lickety Split before taking a break from music to make a run for President of the United States. After receiving a combined 7 write in votes in the 1996 and 2000 elections (his wife voted for Bush in 2000) he gave up on his political aspirations and decided to concentrate on guitar. In the summer of 2006 he and his family met up with Jason and his kids at the Great Escape and they mutually decided it was time to come out of hibernation and start gigging again. They briefly entertained the thought of trying to start a new trend of Drum/Bass duo, then decided quickly they would just play it safe and do the guitar duo thing. Don't be shocked if you see a drum kit at one of their shows though.
Bios for Carl Ferritto and Rich Romano coming soon!
John LeFleur (RIP 2015)
Not much is known about John. He is very mysterious and prefers to keep to himself. There is rumor that used to be an actor in Quebec, but nobody has ever seen anything he was in. Chip heard he escaped from an all women's prison in New Mexico. All that is known for sure is that he played in several area bands in the 80's and 90's. Rock Garden currently shares him with the local band, Ohm's Law (www.myspace.com/ohmslawtheband). John adds a lot of versatility to the band as he can also play guitar, sing and do stand up comedy. With John around, we often switch instruments and try several requests every show ranging from folk to country to southern rock and more. If his stand up routine doesn't get the laughs, our attempts at your requests often will.
Portions of our story may have been embellished...Alright, downright fabricated...but you probably already suspected that. Big thanks to AlbanyAlive.com for the photos.
